Cheerleading competitions can become overwhelming even for the most seasoned cheer fans. But have no fear, FloCheer is here! We are going to give you the competition 4-1-1 and lay it all out on the table so you can watch this weekend's championship like a pro!

Small Varsity: Small Teams, Big Divisions.

The UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship is the largest high school cheerleading competition and the event continues to grow year after year. The Small Varsity Division, which is made up of over 100 teams, is one of the most competitive divisions of the entire weekend. With a maximum of twelve girls allowed on the mat, teams must get creative when creating crowd coverage & visual pyramids and even the smallest mistakes can easily be seen by the judges.

We are going to use this massive division to give you a blueprint of how this competition works. The teams in Small Varsity are split into Division l & Division ll based on their school size. Div. l and Div. ll schools do not compete against eachother. Within each division, teams are separated into three groups--A, B and C-- consisting of around twenty teams each to help with the flow of competition.

Every single squad must compete in prelims. After every team in their designated letter group performs, the top twenty or so teams of each Division l and Division ll will be announced to move on to the next round of competition.

Top teams to the right and straight on till morning…a.k.a Finals!

One to three teams from each letter group with the highest scoring preliminary routine will advance straight through to Finals, skipping the semi-final portion. After the teams have been announced to advance past prelims, the squads will draw for their performance order and semi-finals will be underway. In semi-finals, the letter groups will be mixed together and it will just be the two separate Divisions again.

Another cut will be made and the top 15 to 18 teams will advance to Finals Sunday evening where they will battle it out on the mats to be crowned Small Varsity Division l or Division ll Champions!
