D2 & Summit Level 5 Winners: Worlds Competitors of the Future!

The Summit competition brings out the BEST teams in Levels 1-4 as well as the Level 5 Restricted teams who have been invited to compete at the selective event. There are so many teams across the United States that the Summit was been divided into the Summit held at Disney and the Division 2 Summit held in Tampa, Florida. These Level 5 competitors could be the future Cheer Worlds competitors and winners. Here are a few highlights from some of the winners:

SUMMIT - 2016 L5 Large Senior Restricted Coed (7 teams in Finals)
Champion:  Stingray Allstars Spice

It was a big win taking out the California All Stars in second, Stars Vipers in third and Top Gun in fourth. This team had all the right elements to win the title but their pyramid section most likely gave them the edge. At 2:04 they seamlessly flow from their basket section into a series of at least four pyramid structures and endless inverts from backwards to forward and even some side flips.

SUMMIT - 2016 Small Senior Restricted Coed Level 5 (11 teams in Finals)
Champion: Woodlands Elite Raptors

Woodlands Elite Raptors took home the title and from the look of this nearly flawless routine they did it effortlessly. This is a team of strong tumblers with the majority of the squad performing full twists in both the standing and running tumbling sections of the routine. Their stunt sequence at :45 was hard to beat. It included inversions, tick tocks, full ups, fun to watch swing transitions and strong dismounts. The use of the three boys in the dance was creative and well executed.

SUMMIT - 2016 Large Senior Restricted Level 5
Champion: Cheer Extreme Chicago Passion

This division was interesting with four teams in the finals but from only two different gyms. Cheer Extreme ended up on top taking both the first and second place titles.

  1. Cheer Extreme Chicago - Passion
  2. Cheer Extreme Charlotte - Lady Elite
  3. Cheer Athletics Charlotte - ReignCats
  4. Cheer Athletics - Pumas

D2 SUMMIT - 2016 Level 5 Senior Restricted (4 teams in Finals)
Champion: River Cities Cheerleading Senior Rebels

Starting at about 1:55 to 2:05 is a visually appealing section of their pyramid. The assisted flips popping straight up into the inside arabesques is well done.

SUMMIT - 2016 Small Senior Restricted 5 (6 teams in Finals)
Champion: Twist & Shout Heart

A stand out section in this routine is at :38 when six of the team members perform pike jump, back handspring whip, back handspring whip, two back handsprings into a full twist while the others are doing floor choreography.

D2 SUMMIT - 2016 Level 5 Senior Restricted Coed (11 teams in Finals)
Champion: Arizona Heat All Stars Rated R

This is a really impressive win from a team of only 11 members. With a team so small it is nearly impossible to hide weak areas and this team was strong in every way. Especially impressive was their jumps with rarely seen amplitude. This group was also very confident in their dance section which made it quite the crowd pleaser.
