Pittsburgh Poison Cyanide: Hungry For Gold!
Dance fans wait patiently every year to feel the energy in the room as Pittsburgh Poison Cyanide take the stage at The Dance Worlds! The 2016 silver medalists are coming back in 2017 stronger than ever in hopes of upgrading to gold in Orlando, FL, on April 29 to May 1!

Throughout the past month leading up to Worlds, Cyanide have increased their practices to four to six days per week and raised their intensity with more conditioning and additional full-outs. Head coach Tracey Zangaro Indof said they are amping up the visual effects and tricks in their routine as well.

We caught up with Pittsburgh Poison for a quick preview of what Cyanide will be bringing to The Dance Worlds:

FloCheer: Does your routine have a theme this year?

Tracey Zangaro Indof: We are dancing to one song, "Wait For It" from the "Hamilton" soundtrack. My sister, Jodie, is obsessed with "Hamilton."  She had been pushing my brother, Matthew (our head choreographer), and I to do a "Hamilton" theme. We didn't really pay much attention until the three of us were taking a road trip to a USASF conference. She played the soundtrack, and as soon as "Wait For It" came on, we knew it was the one! It is such a powerful song. We immediately felt connected and so did our dancers when we shared it with them.

Fun fact: the song is performed by Leslie Odom Jr. ("Aaron Burr" in the original cast of "Hamiliton"), who went to school at Carnegie Mellon, which is located in Pittsburgh, about 15 minutes from our gym.

What elements of your routine set you apart from other teams in your division?

Without a doubt, our music sets us apart, because we're telling a story with our routine. We have a very large team with members ranging in age from 9-18. Because of the differences in age/size, we can create lots of pictures and visual effects.

What are your goals for the season and Worlds?

Our goal is to give our personal best performance. We have gotten stronger throughout the season, and we want to continue to build on our momentum for Worlds. We want to make sure that we leave a lasting impression on the audience and judges. After two silvers in a row, we are really hungry for the gold, and we think this is our year!

Is there anything unique about this team?

We have four sets of siblings on our team!

Will Pittsburgh Poison Cyanide have the best performance of the season when they take the stage at The Dance Worlds on April 29 on May 1? Tune in LIVE to all weekend long to watch the top teams in the world compete for a world championship title!
