Meet Alexandria Agag!

Alex began cheering at the age of 6 after seeing her friends practicing cheers during school recess.

"At the time I had been doing gymnastics at a gym, that also offered cheer, and I ended up trying out at gymnastics unlimited," Alex explained. "I made the Mini Level 2 team and progressed on till Senior 4."

Once she began acquiring Level 5 skills, Alex moved to ICE Indy All-stars. The Junior from New Palestine High School now cheers on the Small Senior 5 team, Golden Girls, previously known as Weather Girls. Alex has competed at The Cheerleading Worlds in Orlando, Florida, twice!

What is your favorite thing about all star cheer?

My favorite thing about all star cheer would definitely be competing. I love getting glammed up and competing the routine I've been working so hard for at practice.

What has been your most memorable cheer moment?

My most memorable moment in cheer would be when my team, Weather Girls, hit both days in a row at worlds. My team had many ups and downs that year, and being able to hit at Worlds was one of the best feelings I've ever had.

Who has inspired you or impacted your life the most thus far in your cheer journey?

It's hard to name just one person who has impacted my cheer career. Amy Yoder, Darlene Fanning, Andrew Masten, and Mandy Gibson have all turned me into the cheerleader I am today. They all pushed me to do things that I never thought I could do, taught me lessons, and gave me the confidence to never stop working hard.

As the face of U.S. Finals you'll have an opportunity to post and share positive advice, stories and more to other athletes in the sport. What message do you want to send to other athletes?

One of the messages I would like to share would definitely be to never stop trying. As my coach Darlene would say, there's always something that you can be working on. Whether it be a double or even just pointing your toes in jumps, as a cheerleader, you are never perfect.

I would also want to share how to get through mental blocks. I've had many in the past and I know all too well how bad it feels to get in your head about tumbling. I would want to share advice to others with how to get through those times and overcome that mental block.

What is your favorite thing about competing?

My favorite thing about competing would be going out on the floor and showing everyone why we spend all those hours in the gym. Working together as a team to put our best out on the floor is always a good feeling.

What is your signature skill?

I would say my signature skill is a front through to double full.

What skill have you had to work the hardest to get and how did you do it?

The skill I worked the hardest for would be a double. I was determined to make the Worlds team and thought a double would help my chances to make the team. I worked on it at privates, before practice, and during classes. My tumbling coach Andrew Masten made me do it 100 times on the trampoline to pit before I could even try it on the rod floor. Just getting comfortable on that made going to the floor much easier.

When it came to tryout day, my coach told me I was ready, and so I threw it and landed my double.

What is your goal in cheer?

My ultimate goal in cheer would be to win Worlds. Ever since I started cheer, winning Worlds has been a dream for me.

What is your goal as a cheer and ambassador for the sport?

My goal would definitely be to bring more attention to the "sport" that has changed my life and helped me become the person I am today.
