The coaches incorporated a small gazebo as a runway so that each athlete would have her own special moment when being called up to receive the ring.

Knockout entered the International Open All Girl 5 division in 2011 and have been climbing their way to the top ever since. In 2014, the Canadian squad earned their first globe with a second-place finish. Just seven years into the division, Flyers Knockout was crowned the 2017 IOAG5 World Champions!

"What makes this accomplishment so amazing is that it was our first win in a level 5 division," explained Knockout head coach Vanessa Jacob-Monette. "It proves that we are a gym who can compete on the same level as the best gyms in the world in both level 5 and 6, as our two previous wins were in the IO6 division in 2011 and 2013."

Coach Jacob-Monette said this win was extra special because the Knockout athletes have been training together since they were minis and on the gym's recreational cheer program.

"Seeing them grow up in the gym, compete levels 1-5 and then accomplish the most amazing thing in cheerleading was an absolute honor and we are so grateful for the trust and commitment from these athletes and their parents!"

We left Worlds so humbled and grateful because cheerleading seasons are never easy . . . there are ups and downs and hurdles we must get through as a team and our six Worlds teams managed to overcome it all and represent our gym and country so well.
At the 2017 Cheerleading Worlds, all six Flyers All-Starz teams placed in the top 10 at finals to make it their most successful Worlds as a program.

Flyers left Orlando, Florida, with a gold and silver globe, two fourth-place finishes, one fifth place, and an eighth place in the Large Senior L5 division.

"We are proud of every single one of our athletes who stepped foot on that floor to continue to push the limits of cheerleading in Canada and in the world," Jacob-Monette said.

After bringing their first-ever gold globe back to Canada, Knockout is ready to take on the upcoming season.

"Most of the team is returning and really motivated to raise the bar in stunt execution, improve their tumbling, and bring on a new and powerful routine," Jacob-Monette said.

Defending a World Champion title is never easy, but the girls have their priorities well set and know that hard work is what creates success. Each practice is valued and used to its full potential and hopefully come Worlds we will be even more polished and ready to compete along the best teams in the world.
Knockout's main motto for the season was to 'celebrate even the smallest of victories' and at their ring ceremony, the celebrated their biggest victory yet.

"[The] motto really allowed the team to not only support and love each other and every little thing that everyone contributed to the team but also made them appreciate their success at Worlds because they knew that all of it would not have been possible without all the small victories that came along the way," explained coach Jacob-Monette.
