With the news of so many legendary all star gyms closing their doors, it's refreshing to see new gyms popping up around the world restoring the love for cheer and dance wherever you go.
Aurora All-Star Cheer is one of the newest gyms to welcome new athletes this season. Owned by Amanda Gessner, Aurora has laid its roots in Fort St. John, British Columbia, Canada.
As Aurora opens their doors for their inaugural season, we wish them all the best as they spread the love of all star cheer in their town. Gessner said their first season already looks promising.
"These kids amaze me every single day with the strength and just really wanting this program to grow in and around our community," explained Gessner.
As Gessner opens her new gym, she is supported by an incredible coaching staff who all shares her same passion for cheer. Clayton Robichaud, Morgan Peever, and Desirae Bedell will be leading the charge with Gessner as they embark on their journey as a new gym.

Aurora's coaching staff has spent their lives competing and coaching competitive cheerleading and gymnastics and are ready to develop the sport of cheer in their small community.
The coaching staff attended the Varsity University All Star Cheer and Dance Conference this past August in Seattle.
"Going to the training in Seattle was such an eye opener to the huge world of cheerleading and the amazing people we have around us," Gessner said.
With the gym's goal to build correct form and technique, they are choosing to focus on Levels 1 and 2 as they introduce their new athletes to all star cheer. Many of Aurora's members have dance and gymnastics backgrounds but are looking forward to building their stunt experience.
After seeing an overwhelming excitement from their new athletes, the Aurora coaching staff has decided to take their gym to three competitions in their opening season.
"These kids have so much drive and determination," Gressner said. "So far, we are planning on attending True North Cheer Challenge in Edmonton and Okanagan Cheer Challenge." Aurora's hopes to one day compete at Sea to Sky in Vancouver.
As a small gym, Aurora hopes to be able to teach their athletes more than just new tumbling skills.
"A lot of our athletes are at the age where it's common to have issues with self-esteem and body issues, so we are really focusing on healthy eating on top of staying active, loving yourself and who you are and what you bring to the table," explained Gessner.
Gessner is pleased to see the interest in cheerleading growing in their community.
"Our little town now has two great options as far as cheer gyms are concerned," Gessner said. "Growing up in this community almost my whole life I never thought I would see anything other than hockey and dance / gymnastics."
