Catching Up With The World Champs: ECE Bombshells

It's time for another check-in with our reigning World Champions! This week we are chatting with the two-time Senior Medium World Champions, East Celebrity Elite Bombshells.

While the Senior Medium division is always one of the most competitive divisions at The Cheerleading Worlds, ECE was a strong frontrunner from the start with their powerful stunt and pyramid skills.

At The Cheerleading Worlds 2019, Bombshells sat in second place after Semi-Finals but the northeast team walked into the Arena with confidence on Monday and performed a zero-deduction routine that earned them their second World Championship title.

For Bombshells, the 2018-19 season was one to remember. The team claimed the top spot in their division at The MAJORS, NCA All-Star Nationals, and The Cheerleading Worlds.

Fun Fact: ECE is only the second Senior Medium team to win two times at The Cheerleading Worlds.

Bombshells held a ring ceremony in August as a way to celebrate their big win and honor the team’s 12 graduating seniors.

FloCheer caught up with Tiana Austin, Kayla Givens, and Jenna Williams, the captains of ECE Bombshells, to hear more about their season.

“We’ve definitely celebrated, and our 2019 Worlds win has set in, but this season we’re not focusing on the past,” they shared. “We know it’s a new year, and that last season’s successes mean nothing this season.”

It’s now been over six months since ECE reclaimed the throne in Orlando, and the team is ready to focus on the season ahead.

While Bombshells graduated 12 seniors, every girl that did not graduate returned to the team. The team has five seniors this year and eight athletes that are new to the M5 team. Austin, Givens, and Williams believe this is one of the most talented Senior Medium teams to ever come out of East Celebrity Elite.

At this point in the season, Bombshells are working on choreography upgrades as they prepare for their showcase in December. With big titles to defend, this team isn't wasting a moment of practice time as they get ready to take on the new season.

This season we want to build on the legacy of last year's team. It’s definitely hard to win, but it’s even harder to defend titles. This season we’ll be defending Majors, NCA, and Worlds, which is something we’ve never had to do before.”
