From Athlete To Coach: Sean Guzman

The Top Gun staff is very unique for many different reasons. Each coach has their own unique journey with the program. They all have cheered at Top Gun and been coached by either Kristen or Victor, if not both.

One particular coach started his journey with the Miami gym almost 20 years ago, and he had no idea he would still be here making a career out of his once extracurricular activity.

From walking into Top Gun when he was just 8 years old to becoming Top Gun’s tumbling director, Sean Guzman has grown up in the Top Gun's family to become one of the industries best tumbling instructors.

“I realized my purpose was not to lead any teams to victory but to teach athletes that there was so much more to life than titles and rings.” -Sean Guzman

Growing up at Top Gun, Sean has secured many titles, wins, and, of course, losses.  As we all know, we learn way more from our losses than we do from our wins.

While training with TG, he learned that the sport was more than just winning. He found that teaching hard work, determination, and having a good heart would take you farther in life than winning will.

Because of everything he learned and all the incredible opportunities Kristen and Victor Rosario gave him and his family, Sean wanted to do everything he could to give back.

He began coaching tumbling at just 14 under the guidance of Victor, and by the next year, he began coaching his first team (Youth 1). In 2013, he was given the opportunity to start up a new level five team at TG, which is now known as Lady Jags.

During his time at Top Gun, Sean won four world championships as an athlete — two with Top Gun’s Large Coed and two with their International Open Coed. Sean also won two more world titles as a coach: once with Lady Jags (2014) and one with Sick6 (2017).

Sean has now decided to take his knowledge and experience working at camps and conferences from around the U.S to Australia and even Finland.
