The Man, The Myth: Jay Hollman

Jay Hollman is a pretty big deal in the cheerleading world, and his skills and accolades can back that up. The University of Central Florida cheerleader has been tumbling since he was 4 years old, and he is headed down the road to greatness. We asked him where he's been, what he's been up to, and where he's headed.

Get to know the man, the myth, the legend, Jay Hollman!

Where did you grow up?

Birmingham, Alabama.

What are you going to school for?

I'm studying sport and exercise science to become a physician assistant (P.A.) at the University of Central Florida.

How did you get into cheerleading?

I went to my cousin's cheerleading competition when I was 4 years old, and I got to watch the older teams with the guys tumbling. I thought that I could do it, so I went home and started trying it on the furniture. My parents took me to ACE All Stars after that, and the rest is history...

Where all have you cheered?

I cheered all stars at High Fly All Stars, Cheer 1st, ACE of Birmingham. Currently, I'm cheering at the University of Central Florida.

What's your favorite part of cheerleading?

My favorite part about cheerleading is meeting a wide range of athletes that all have different backgrounds and personalities.

You are known for your pretty insane tumbling abilities. What's your signature tumbling pass?

I've always been known for my Arabians. I perform three different types and all are very unique!

Do you have a signature stunt?

My "go-to" stunt is a torch lol. Most people hate that stunt, but I can do the basic IMEs and Elites incorporating the torch.

Who/what is your biggest motivation?

My biggest motivation is just to continue to push the envelope in all aspects of my craft. Not allowing my size limit my skill level.

Any fun facts about yourself?

I am absolutely afraid of HEIGHTS!! This is surprising to most because of the height I get in my tumbling.

What was it like to be a part of UCA college staff working with some of the best squads around the country?

It was truly a blessing and humbling to be a part of UCA college staff and work with all the amazing athletes. Allowed me to meet a lot of great people and pushed me to continue working hard to become a better athlete.

Where can we see you in the future?

Ultimately, just trusting God's plan for my future. Would love to continue working with cheerleaders wherever and however I can.
