Mother Nature has been in a frenzy lately as two Atlantic Category 4 hurricanes have hit the United States for the first time in not just the same year, but in the same month according to The Weather Channel.

As Texans have begun the rebuilding stage from Hurricane Harvey, less than two weeks later Floridians braced themselves for the worst as Hurricane Irma made landfall.

As Irma threatened to cause damage across the entire peninsula, Walt Disney World made the decision September 8th, late Friday evening to close the parks for the weekend.

But don't worry cheer fans, your beloved new cheerleading stadium at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports was spared! Disney officials reported fallen trees throughout the property but no major damage occurred. All Walt Disney World Theme Parks and Disney Springs reopened with regular operating hours Tuesday, September 12th.

The estimated 286,000-square-foot complex is set to open in early 2018 and will be the first sports venue of its size designed with cheerleaders and dancers in mind.

The entire cheerleading community joined together to support Harvey victims and they look to spread the love to Florida as hurricane season continues. Many teams have already started posting prayers and words of encouragement to fellow competitors.
