Studio Spotlight September: Meet The Source Dance Lab

The Story of The Source Dance Lab:

"Courtney and Ashley Frato are married, have a 2-year-old daughter, and together own The Source Dance Lab. They are a proud LGBTQ+ married couple that owns a studio and coached a team that has won The Dance Worlds. Prior to opening her studio, Courtney danced professionally behind artists and platforms such as; Kelly Rowland, Ja Rule, Deborah Cox, KTU Beatstock, and ESPN. Ashley came from a sports and cheerleading background, where she cheered on her college team, becoming the youngest captain to lead her team to a National Championship. The two combined both their dance and sports worlds together to create The Source Dance Lab.

Our studio was built in 60 days and took off from there! Our studio is most known for hip-hop, as well as coming up with insanely creative and entertaining themes for our pieces. We’re not afraid to be different, stand out, and go against the norm of how things are done. I think this is why The Source Dance Lab has been so successful in such a short amount of time.

The Source Dance Lab is comprised of athletes and entertainers who have immense amounts of grit and determination. We’ve had to rebuild our home 3 times in the span of 11 years, all while becoming gold and silver medalists, proving to our athletes that road blocks are just temporary and to never give up on your dream or team because together we can accomplish anything.

We lost our studio last year in December and were practicing in random warehouses, getting kicked out of places left and right, and still went to Dance Worlds 2025... and became Senior Small Hip Hop Gold Medalists. We're still not sure how we pulled through with no mirrors, no marley, and no floor. Luckily we just opened a new home this past weekend and we can't wait to take on the season, stronger together!"

What Makes The Source Dance Lab Special:

"Our program is special because we create not only a nurturing environment, but in athletic atmosphere. When you combine the two, you don't just build really good dancers, but even better humans. Because of this, when our kids are on stage their chemistry is undeniable and they don’t have to sell anything because it is authentically them. Lastly, our studio truly loves every single one of their teammates. It’s not fake. It’s not forced. It’s genuine and everyone generally wants to be there and our famous quote is there’s no love like Source love because there really isn’t.

We not only compete at All Star Dance events, but do every dance path possible at our studio; studio competitions, solos, industry and commercial events, and All Star. Our kids are signed by agencies such as Clear Talent Group, MSA and BLOC. They have been also seen with the Knicks City Kids, Brooklyn Nets Kids, Arianna Grande, Nickelodeon, Gap, Billboard 100, Macys, Justin Bieber, and more."
