Studio Spotlight September: Meet Vergo Training Lab

FloDance is shining light on incredible All Star dance programs that help elevate the All Star space and build champion athletes on and off the floor. This week, we’re sharing the story of Vergo Training Lab - an All Star Dance program making this season their own, with pride and purpose!

The Story of Vergo Training Lab:

"We ran our Allstar program out of a studio. In my second year, we took 3rd at The Dance Worlds in both pom and jazz. When we returned from Worlds, I was told that we could no longer run our team out of the studio. We either had to shut down the team or open up our own studio. We gave the dancers the option to shut down and try to combine with someone else or open up our own space. Within 2 weeks our parents raised $10k to help us open up our own rehearsal space. We signed a lease and started training within 2 months!

I danced at Long Beach State and started working with and choreographing for teams while in college. I have won over 30 National Championships at USA and NDA. I sold my first studio in 2008 and took a long break from dance. In 2016, I was pulled back into the dance world and helped a local high school break school history by winning their first USA National Championship. The following year they won USA Advanced pom and jazz and also an NDA National Championship. After that, I took over an Allstar program. My first studio name was Virgo and we now are Vergo (kind of the 2.0 version). Despite almost not having a season, we are heading to The Dance Majors and preparing for a great season ahead!"

What Makes Vergo Training Lab Special:

"We have incredible parent support and a ton of alumni involvement. We are very team focused and the kids love the amount of positivity and support they receive, but the big thing is that they really grow so much. We believe success comes from discipline and we want kids to leave the program as better overall humans than when they started. We don’t hold a true audition as we feel spots are limited and you have to be ready and willing to work hard to be on the team."
