The Story of Ohio Valley All Stars:
"It didn’t just start as Ohio Valley All Stars. Current coach, Bobbi Wilson, helped coach a competitive cheer team from the Warren local school district called the Bear All-Stars (previously the BV Bears). In 1996, she took over the head coaching position and decided to open tryouts in the Mid Ohio Valley, creating the first true all star team in the area. In just a few years, she doubled the number of athletes and won many titles including COA Midwest Open Nationals. In her final season of coaching she asked Jamie Bennett-Bailey to take over the program and she began what is now the Ohio Valley All Stars.
In 1999, Jamie and her mom Cathy started their adventure. What started in a small wrestling room grew into over a hundred athletes over time. Earning over 300 National Championship titles, bids to The Cheerleading Worlds, The D2 Summit and many more. Jamie coached many teams while Cathy handled the business side. After 20 years of dedication, they were ready to retire but didn’t want to see the program end. Two families within the program came together and are excited to be the new owners and carry on the tradition.
Current owners Kathy Azar and Kari Geary have been friends since 2001 and the sport of cheerleading is what brought them together. Kathy was Kari’s high school cheerleading coach. Years later they both had daughters and hoped one day to have cheerleaders of their own to share memories with. In 2019, they became the new owners of the Ohio Valley All Stars and are entering season 27.
Our gym has changed over the years but every time it gets better. We’ve had multiple owners and buildings through our journey but the love for cheer remains. Our mission is to build self-confidence, self-discipline, team building and lifelong friendships through all-star cheerleading. It’s always a roller coaster with ups and downs but we stay resilient and have fun along the way."

What Makes Ohio Valley All Stars Special:
"I think our program is special because we really invest and care about all of the athletes. We take the time to know them and their families. We do multiple team bonding and gym events so all athletes can get to know each other. We pride ourselves in caring about every team. If you’re tiny prep you’re just as important as senior 4. We really try to instill values and life lessons that will help them in life because one day they’re not going to be a cheerleader anymore. Our goal is to help prepare them for life outside of cheer so they can be successful in the future."
