The Story of Pacific Elite Dance:

Founded in 2017 in Melbourne Australia, Pacific Elite Dance has grown from one team of 26 dancers to over 100 athletes across Pom, Jazz, Lyrical, and Hip Hop. Now in its 9th season, the program has represented Australia at The Dance Worlds in 2017, 2019, 2023, and 2025, while remaining dedicated to providing athletes with high quality training, strong choreography, and meaningful competition experiences.

Margarita Jiménez (MJ) is the Owner and Director of Pacific Elite. Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, she danced with The Golden Girls Dance Team and competed at the inaugural Dance Worlds in 2006, later performing with Team Colombia Pom at ICU in 2012. After moving to Australia to complete a Master’s in Leadership at Monash University, she joined the university’s cheer and dance club, which became the foundation for Pacific Elite. She chose the name “Pacific” to symbolize the connection between Colombia and Australia, her two homes.

80% of the Pacific students are 18 years and over, as they find the studio as a way to keep dancing competitively whilst balancing their personal life/work/studies. Because of MJ’s background, there is a strong Latin American influence in their studio, from naming their yearly showcase in Spanish, to the music used on some of their routines. Their teams are named after mythology figures.

What Makes Pacific Elite Dance Special:

"What makes Pacific Elite special is its focus on the dancer’s journey over podium results. With an international vision, the program prepares athletes both physically and mentally to take the stage both Nationally and overseas, ensuring every dancer grows through the experience as much as the competition itself."

- Margarita Jiménez, Owner of Pacific Elite Dance
