The holiday season delivered plenty of cheer across CAA men’s basketball, as dramatic comebacks, statement non-conference wins, and a packed slate highlighted this week’s action. From late-game heroics to power-conference upsets, the league continues to make noise heading into the heart of December.

Charleston thrilled its home crowd with an 82-78 comeback victory over The Citadel after trailing by as many as 16 points. Jlynn Counter led the charge with a near-flawless performance, pouring in 22 points on 6-of-7 shooting, adding seven rebounds and six assists. Counter knocked down a pair of three-pointers and went 8-for-10 from the free-throw line to fuel the rally. Martin Kalu (17 points) and Connor Hickman (15) provided key scoring support, while Christian Reeves posted an efficient double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in just 18 minutes off the bench.

Elon also erased a deficit, rallying past Richmond, 73-70, behind Kacper Klaczek’s 16-point outing. The graduate forward drained all three of his three-point attempts and went a perfect 5-for-5 at the line. Isaac Harrell added 11 points with three triples of his own, while Ja’Juan Carr contributed 13 points, five rebounds, and the game-sealing block with five seconds remaining.

CAA Plays Spoiler: Hofstra Takes Two ACC Road Wins

CAA teams continued to impress on the non-conference stage, earning marquee wins against power-conference opponents and highly ranked teams. Elon’s win over Richmond came against a Spiders squad that entered with an 8-1 record.

Hofstra made headlines by knocking off two ACC teams on the road in six days, defeating Pittsburgh, 80-73, on Dec. 7 before edging Syracuse, 70-69, on Dec. 13. Stony Brook added to the league’s resume with wins over Loyola Marymount (81-78) and Columbia (77-73 OT), both of whom entered with just one loss. Towson previously halted Liberty’s unbeaten start with a 72-69 victory before Thanksgiving.

The CAA schedule remains busy as we head into the holidays. William & Mary, winners of seven of its last eight games, returns home to face Radford in a key matchup streaming on FloCollege. The Tribe owns a 5-2 all-time record when hosting the Highlanders.
