Studio Spotlight September: Meet Powerhouse Dance Team

FloDance is shining light on incredible All Star dance programs that help elevate the All Star space and build champion athletes on and off the floor. Up next is Powerhouse Dance Team! With one year under their belt, they are ready to see what this season brings.

The Story of Powerhouse Dance Team:

"Powerhouse is based in Manchester, England and we opened in May 2023. Since then we have grown from having just 9 competitive teams in our first season, to 33! Our youngest competitive dancers are just 3 years old, and our oldest are adults. We also have an amazing DanceAbilities team within our program.

Tash and Jodi are the owners of Powerhouse and we have been best friends since they were teenagers. They danced together for over ten years and then started to coach and choreograph together. They coached and choreographed for Team England, before starting their own choreography business. This led them to start up their own program where they could truly put into practice their vision and values, and create a place where everybody feels POWERFUL!

We are a young program, but we hope to have made an impact on English Allstar Dance. The name ‘Powerhouse’ came from the ICU commentary, where they said that England were getting up there with the ‘powerhouse countries’ of Pom whilst watching a routine we choreographed.

In our first season, we secured 2 bids to The Dance Worlds for Open Coed Pom and Open Pom, as well as four Dance Summit bids in Tiny, Mini, Youth and Junior Pom. We attended our first Worlds & Summit in 2025 and placed 5th in Open Coed Pom, 11th in Open Pom, and became Summit Champions in Tiny Pom & Mini Pom! We attended Worlds again in 2026 where we came 5th and 3rd in the Nations Cup in both Open Pom and Open Coed Pom.

In 2027, we will be returning to Worlds with three teams, Open Pom, Open Coed Pom and our first time competing in Open Open. We will also be returning to The Dance Summit with Tiny, Mini, Youth and U18 Pom, as well as Tiny Lyrical.

Dance Worlds 2026 - 5th and 3rd as a Nation in Open Pom & Open Coed Pom

What Makes Powerhouse Dance Team Special:

"All of our Pom routines are choreographed in-house, which is something we are truly proud of. We are proud to represent England on the international stage. We are a small country, but that doesn’t stop us from pushing ourselves. We are so inspired by the international dance community and we hope our story is inspirational to any coaches out there who want to create the studio they wished to have when they were a dancer themselves."
