Small Gym September: Meet Knoxville Twisters

FloCheer is highlighting the small gyms and programs that help elevate All Star cheer and build champion athletes on and off the mat for Small Gym September. This week, we’re sharing the story of Knoxville Twisters, a program that recently hit an exciting milestone of taking the stage at The Cheerleading Worlds for the first time ever!

  • Location: Knoxville, TN
  • First Year: Opened in 2011 for tumbling classes. Added an all star program in 2012

The Story of Knoxville Twisters: 

Our gym owner Rebekah Chait was doing tumbling classes in her front yard and decided to open a cheer gym. One year later, she started an all star cheer program.

Fun Facts about Knoxville Twisters:

  • We had our first Worlds team last year and finished 11th out of 30 in the L6 Limited XSmall Coed division. 
  • We have a special send-off where we perform our routines one last time in the gym before all of our big end-of-season competitions.
  • We also have a special prayer circle at the end of these send-offs.

Proud Wins & Accomplishments:

  • 2021 D2 Summit Champions - JL5 
  • 9X CHEERSPORT Champions
  • 3x UCA All Star Champions
  • 7x US Finals Champions 
  • 5X D2 Summit Finalist
  • Youth Summit Silver Medalist 
  • Top 3 in Varsity Cheer League 


What Makes The Program Special:

Everyone at Knoxville Twisters feels like one big family, including athletes, parents, and coaches. We have each other’s backs no matter what. We always support each other through every high and low. 

Goals For The Upcoming Season: 

Our biggest goal for this season is to hopefully make it to finals at The Cheerleading Worlds and maybe even globe. We are forever & always so proud of going to our first Worlds last season and hitting zero on day two, as well as placing 11th out of 30 in the L6 Limited XSmall Coed division. I’m most looking forward to hitting the Worlds stage again with my closest friends. I’m also really looking forward to seeing our routines come to life on stage this season!
