FloCheer is highlighting the small gyms and programs that help elevate All Star cheer and build champion athletes on and off the mat for Small Gym September. This week, we’re proud to feature Louisiana Powerhouse, a gym that has created a place where athletes can grow, learn, and thrive. After a devastating hurricane in 2020, Louisiana Powerhouse demonstrated incredible resilience, coming together through adversity and showing just how strong the bonds within their gym family are. The Story of Louisiana Powerhouse: 

Louisiana Powerhouse began in March 2010 with a dream of creating a place where athletes could grow not only in cheer and dance, but also in confidence, character, and life. Over the last 16 years, we have grown, evolved, celebrated incredible successes, and faced challenges we never could have imagined. After Hurricane Laura devastated Southwest Louisiana in 2020, we had to rebuild both our facility and our program. Through it all, our athletes, families, and staff stayed together. What started as a gym has truly become a family. Our story is one of resilience, hard work, community, and believing that when we work together, anything is possible.

Fun Facts about Louisiana Powerhouse:

  • Louisiana Powerhouse has been open since March 2010 that’s 16 years of Powerhouse!
  •  We survived Hurricane Laura in 2020 and rebuilt, making resilience a huge part of our story.
  •  We are Louisiana through and through our current All-Star teams are even named after famous New Orleans streets: Rampart, Bienville, Esplanade, Dauphine, Calliope, Orleans, and Royal.
  • Our program has celebrated some pretty incredible accomplishments, including NCA titles, a Summit Championship, and an All-Star Worlds Championship.
  • Some athletes who grew up at Powerhouse have come full circle and are now coaching the next generation of LPH athletes.
  • We don’t just do All-Star cheer! LPH is home to competitive cheer, recreational tumbling, recreational dance, and our Voo Doo competitive dance program.
  •  We’ve been voted the American Press Best Gymnastics Studio four times.
  • Our motto is “YouMatteratLPH,” and we really mean it. Our families have been together through wins, losses, hurricanes, rebuilding, and everything in between.
  • One of our favorite things about LPH is that you can walk into the gym as a tiny beginner and literally grow up here from your first forward roll to competing on our senior teams.
  • After 16 years, we still believe the best thing we’ve built isn’t a trophy collection it’s the LPH family.

What Makes The Program Special:

Our people, it is the culture we work to create every day. We want every athlete, whether they are taking their very first recreational class or competing on one of our highest-level teams, to feel seen, valued, challenged, and loved. We believe success is bigger than trophies. We want to develop confident athletes, great teammates, strong leaders, and good humans. Our families have stood beside one another through championships, disappointments, hurricanes, rebuilding, and everything in between. That sense of family is what makes LPH special.

Goals For The Upcoming Season: 

Our biggest goal this season is growth with consistency, purpose, and unity across our entire program. Our focus is the same technique, the same expectations, and the same culture from our youngest athletes to our seniors. Of course, we have big competitive goals and would love to bring home more jackets, banners, bids, and championships, but our greatest goal is for every athlete to finish this season better than they started more skilled, more confident, and even more connected to their teammates. We want this to be a season our athletes remember long after they stop competing.

What Are You Most Proud Of?

We are proud of our championships and accomplishments, but what makes us proudest is who our athletes become. Watching a shy child find her confidence, an athlete finally master a skill she has worked months for, teammates learn to fight for one another, and former athletes return as coaches is bigger than any banner we could hang on the wall. We are also incredibly proud that after Hurricane Laura, our Powerhouse family refused to let our story end. We rebuilt, came back stronger, and continued giving the children of Southwest Louisiana a place to call home.
