You heard there's a new way to earn your way to Worlds?! So did we, and guess what -- it's true!
The USASF is hosting a Worlds Cup Race at these 49 events where points will be awarded and calculated throughout the season, determining six Worlds Cup Race Winners. These teams will be heading to Worlds with Paid or At-Large Bids.
Pretty cool, right? We thought so! Three Paid Bids ($650 per athlete/plus two coaches) will be awarded to the top three teams, and three At-Large Bids will be awarded to the remaining three teams.
2. A maximum of the five highest calculated scores per team will be used in the Worlds Cup Race totals.
3. If any team already has a Paid or At-Large Bid, the Cheerleading Worlds Bid will go to the team with next highest score.
Mo Duckworth, the USASF Director of Web Technologies and Strategies tells us, "There is a possibility that we will see some new teams competing at The Cheerleading Worlds. This type of bid qualification will open up the opportunity for teams that have not been to The Cheerleading Worlds to have another chance of receiving a bid and attend the championship."
But only time and points will tell. To find out more about the Worlds Cup Race, visit USASF.net.
