Five Things We Learned From The Woodlands Elite Showcase

Woodlands Elite Cheer Company held their 16th annual parent showcase this past weekend at NRG Arena in Houston, Texas, and it sure was #sWEt!

This was the first time the 2017-18 teams have performed their new routines in front of a crowd, and the results were everything we could have expected and so much more.

We are still in awe of the pure talent that was displayed but as we reflect back on the weekend, here are five things we learned from the showcase.

1. Don’t. Sleep. On. Janes.

G.I. Janes were one of the most prepared teams at the Woodlands Elite Parent Showcase. The medium senior 5 squad opens their routine with 20 synchronized one to fulls, and they’re really pushing the limits with their stunting abilities by adding in an invert after their low to high tic-tocs.

2. 2018 Will NOT Be A Rebuild Year For The Generals.

Generals have their blinders on with full focus locked in on the future. The 2016-17 season is dead and gone, and the talented ladies of Generals are focused on the journey ahead. Hitting their elite sequence in warmups and live in front of a crowd at the showcase was a big win for their confidence going forward.

The Generals have a decent number of new athletes but you can guarantee 2018 will not be a rebuilding year for this small senior 5 team.

3. Dear Black Ops: This Is Your Year.

Two words: raw talent. I mean, did you see their opening tumbling? We were shook. And to make them the perfect triple threat, they have the stunts to match. It’s very early in the season and the team still has their kinks to work out but they are the team to watch in medium coed this year.

4. Woodlands Elite Coaches Don’t Play.

This year the coaches designed no fluff, pedal-to-the-metal routines that are sure to impress. Every stunt and pyramid sequence flowed effortlessly with creative stunt transitions that make you just stop and appreciate the expertise behind every routine.

5. Majors Are The Team To Beat.

It’s not all about worlds teams at Woodlands Elite — the lower level squads are in it to win it. Large junior 4 squad Majors gave hands-down one of the best performances of the show. We got to see the lovely ladies in action at practice when they earned their first zero of the season and all we can say is: watch out world, the Majors are coming.
