The Cheer Alliance kicks off today in Louisville, Kentucky, and this championship event is a first look at some of the top teams in the nation.

The championship begins at 2 PM ET with the play-in round, in which teams will take the mat in the hopes of scoring high enough to earn a spot in the championship round this evening.

Don’t sleep on play-in teams! Last year, Top Gun Large Coed started as play-in team and made history as the first ever play-in team to move on to the championship round and win the title of Cheer Alliance Grand Champion.

This event is like no other. From the lights and production to the real-time results, this competition has the best of the best battling it out all on one stage.

New to the competition this year is the introduction of the leader’s lounge, located on each side of the competition floor. On the left side there will be the coed leader’s lounge, and on the right, the all-girl leaders lounge. As team’s finish their performances, they’ll head to the leader’s lounge — and if their score remains the top score — they get to stay.
