How Cheer Athletics Cheetahs Won The Cheerleading Worlds

Worlds may be over, but the passionate chant from the Arena filled with Cheer Athletics fans is still ringing in our ears.

The road to the top is always journey, but Cheer Athletics Cheetahs made it look easy. In the end, Cheetahs were named your 2018 Senior Large Coed World Champions.

How’d They Do It?

Just look at their season, you can sum up it up in just two words:

Fearless consistency.

Worlds may be won with one last two and half minute routine in Finals, but that Finals routine is built on a season worth of hard work.

After falling short of the title in 2017, Cheetahs were determined to never feel that second-place feeling ever again. That fire is what drove their consistent reign throughout the year.

Cheetahs started their year in December at The Cheer Alliance in Louisville, Kentucky. At The Cheer Alliance teams only get one shot to perform their fresh new routine alongside some of the best teams in the world — those same teams you will see again at the season finale in Orlando.

Cheetahs walked on to the mat like the owned the place and put on a show-stopping performance to kick-start their season. Standing hand in hand with Panthers, Cheetahs were crowned Cheer Alliance Grand Champions.

The next stop on Cheetahs road to the top was earning their bid to The Cheerleading Worlds 2018. The Texas team went to Spirit Celebration Nationals to do just that.

With days out from The MAJORS, Cheetahs need time on the mat in front of a crowd to start perfecting their performance and tweaking the fine details of their routine. They executed a solid hit, a Spirit Celebration, earning them the championship title and a paid bid to Worlds.

With their ticket punched to The Cheerleading Worlds 2018, Cheetahs had a huge weight lifted off their shoulders early and had the chance to focus on the little things while improving their routine one step at a time.

Next stop, The MAJORS to defend their title.

We had no doubt in our minds that Cheetahs was going to put on a spectacular show in Indy. Being invited is an honor, winning once is a feat, but taking the title six times in a row is just unheard of.

Well, until Cheetahs made it a reality.

Out of the 24 MAJORS teams competing that weekend, Cheer Athletics Cheetahs set the bar with the highest difficulty score! The difficulty of their routine mixed with their consistent ability execute earned them title once again of MAJORS Grand Champions.

With the first half of their season coming together nicely, Cheetahs headed back home to Plano to start grinding for their next big event, NCA.

Hitting a routine in Finals at NCA All-Star Nationals is what dreams are made of. From the lights to the screaming crowd, to the pyrotechnics, NCA All-Star is one of the most exciting and nerve-wracking events cheerleaders will ever compete at.

Worlds is just around the corner and the pressure for perfection is on as teams try to hold their own in their division. But without fail, Cheer Athletics Cheetahs dominated the Senior Large Coed division once again to earn a set of black jackets and the title of NCA All-Star Champions with a Final score of 98.50.

With NCA in the books, Cheetahs set their sights on Worlds and never looked back. They worked on perfecting their elite stunt sequence and added some upgrades to their opening including four more running passes.

On Day 1, Cheetahs performed an uncharacteristic routine leaving the mat with deductions. For the first time this season, they were ranked fourth.

No matter how strong of a season they had up to this point, they knew the Senior Large Coed division was going to be battle. Division heavy hitters TGLC, Steel, and Cali Coed were above Cheetahs moving into Finals.

But when Finals came around, the confidence they had built over a winning season kicked in.

Cheetahs did the thing and delivered a routine that left The Arena stunned. With crispy clean elite stunts and baskets that reached the rafters, Cheer Athletics Cheetahs had done what they set out to accomplish a year ago.

They hit a routine in Finals and won The Cheerleading Worlds.
