At The 2019 Dance Worlds, Senior Large Coed Hip Hop was anticipated to be one of the most fiercely contested divisions. 

In large part, that's due to the fact that every team who placed in the top five in 2018 is back competing again this year. As if there was any doubt, Prelims lived up to the hype, and then some. Ten teams took the stage, and it was electrifying, to say the least!

In 2018, Imperial Athletics Monarch took home silver. This season, they’re on their way to gold, as they finished Prelims on top. From the very beginning of their routine, they had the audience wrapped up in their performance, and they never let them go. 

The costumes really amplified every single movement and showed how intricate the choreography really was. As one unit, the team moved through the routine like a well-oiled machine. If they can replicate today’s performance, they might just be on their way to bumping up last year’s finish by one spot. 

Pittsburgh Poison Cyanide currently sits in the second position after a routine that would’ve held its own in the Open Hip Hop division. 

The team had a look of maturity about it that was very exciting to watch. They also had numerous tumbling passes that added to the excitement factor. 

Behind them is Studio L Dance Co., which put on a show that literally had the crowd on its feet. There was so much going on, and yet it was so controlled. You could tell they knew what they needed to do, and they delivered. 

Rounding out the top five, and securing the last two spots in Finals, were Star Performance Centre, and Champion Legacy. Star Performance Centre, the 2018 gold medalists, opened with a visual you have to see to believe. 

Champion Legacy delivered big tricks and a boatload of swagger to nail down their spot to go for the medals tomorrow. 

When these five teams hit the floor tomorrow, there are going to be some major fireworks. It’s going to be a tight contest, and nothing is guaranteed until every trick lands and the last beat of bass fades out. It’s a power-packed lineup, and a master class on what it takes to truly pull off Hip Hop on a world-class level. Be sure to tune in and find out who takes the gold!
