Twenty-six teams took the floor for the Preliminary competition in the Senior Small Jazz division at The 2019 Dance Worlds. Jazz can tend to be one of the broader dance styles, which allows for a wide range of interpretations. This division featured all sorts of varying speeds, levels of drama, and completely different emotional tones. When all was said and done, every emotion under the sun had been felt, and these 26 teams each had their chance to leave an impression.
The strongest impression of the day was felt by Dance Mania, who heads into Finals in first place. Their presence forces you to not take your eyes off of them from the moment they walk onto the floor. Even before the music began, they commanded your attention, and refused to let it go anywhere else. Their stunning uniforms accented their flawless lines, and their eye contact let everyone know that they were here for business. To call them warrior princesses is doing them an injustice, because it is not a fierce enough title. They will be out to defend their top spot in Finals, and there’s no doubt that they’ll fight anyone who tries to take it from them.
Extremely close behind in second place is Dancin Bluebonnets, who threw down a routine that included some tricks that could only be described as magic. They used a difficult prop as the centerpiece of the magic tricks that went on throughout the routine; however, all of the tricks didn’t distract from their impeccable talent, technique, and storytelling ability. This is a routine you have to see to believe:
Rounding out the top five are teams that are no strangers to success at The Dance Worlds. The Vision Dance Center ended Day 1 in third place with a fun routine containing lots of quirky movements and excellent full-team moments.
Champion Legacy used a great deal of athleticism and outstanding turn sequences to put themselves in fourth, eyeing a podium spot tomorrow.
Dance Dynamics will head to Finals in fifth place, carrying a routine with wonderful individual highlights and fantastic facial expression.
Nine other teams will join the teams already mentioned in Finals: Star Steppers, Foursis Dance Academy, Peak Athletics, Dancin’ With Roxie, 5678! Dance Studio, Wildfire Dance Studio, Next Level Dance Co – Goddesses, and Dance Precisions – Where is My Mind.
The Finals for Senior Small Jazz will be an incredibly unique, wildly entertaining display. Make sure you tune in to see who will dance their way to the gold!
