Worlds Program On The Rise At Flyers All-Starz Ottawa

One of Canada’s most successful All Star programs is growing!

Flyers All-Starz has been dominating at The Cheerleading Worlds claiming seven World Championship titles for a total of 18 globes. The Worlds family is now growing to their Ottawa location.

This summer Flyers All-Starz Ottawa announced they are debuting their very first World’s team, Rise! Rise will be taking on The Cheerleading Worlds in the International Open Level 6* division.

Flyers Ottawa has been working and striving for a Worlds team since Flyers bought the small local gym in September 2016. Every year the gym has grown in numbers, skills and team levels with the hopes of bringing a team to The Cheerleading Worlds.

“We knew we didn't want to put out a team that wouldn't be successful so we patiently waited until our athletes were physically and mentally ready for the added demands of a Worlds team, much less that of a world-renown Flyers Worlds team.,” explained Coach & Gym Manager, Kelly Nightingale.

Rise is currently made up of 19 all girl athlete who have grown up within the gym.

“The great thing about this team is that everyone stands out in their own way and was chosen to be a part of the inaugural team for a specific reason. Every single athlete on the team is expected to be a leader in their own way, whether it be a leader for the mental well-being of our younger athletes or a leader in keeping up the positive energy even through the most grueling practices.”

“No athlete is the same as another,” added Nightingale. “We are a HUGE family or at Flyers (or as we like to write FAmily or F.A.mily) even between locations, and feel that way within the team. The team is so supportive of each other already. They realize no one can stand out without the others, as a team.”

The name Rise was decided on by Charles Lanoue and Vanessa Jacobs-Monette the owners of Flyers All-Starz.

Lanoue told us that Rise was chosen as Ottawa’s gym keeps rising year after year.

“Where we begin the season will have nothing to do with where we will end the season. No matter what, we will keep rising!”

Rise is joining a strong legacy of amazing teams at Flyers All-Starz and the coaches have their goals set for a great season with the new team.

“As we tell all our athletes at the gym, we just to put out routines that they can be proud of competing,” Nightingale added. “However, Flyers All-Starz is known for hitting very clean routines, not just in their Worlds routines but all their teams so our goal, as it is every year with all of our teams, is to live up to that level of cleanliness.”

*Flyers All-Starz is waiting until the end of the summer to officially determine which level Rise will compete in the upcoming season.
