You know how the story goes: the hero saves the day, and all is well in the world. Well, the Villains of CheerVille Athletics have an entirely different ending to that story in mind.

Since opening the villain team name-based gym in 2013, CheerVille Athletics have produced a Worlds team each season that has made a big splash both nationally, and at the global level. After a meteoric rise the past few seasons, their XSmall Coed Level 6 Worlds team has their sights squarely set on making history in 2020.

The team’s name, Anarchy, embodies exactly what they have planned for the 2019-2020 season. Boasting a team that is the strongest in the program’s history, they will attempt to mount a total world takeover. Since the inception of the Senior XSmall Coed division, Anarchy has been a major factor, placing near the top at almost every major competition they’ve attended. 

Some of the highlights have been winning the Champions League multiple times, top 2 finishes at NCA All-Star Nationals and Jamfest Nationals, a fourth-place finish at Worlds in 2018, and a silver medal at Worlds in 2019.

After finishing one place shy of the top spot at The Cheerleading Worlds 2019, the road to gold seems to be paved.

Anarchy coach Joey Mastrocola told us that the success of the last few seasons has helped to bolster the future success of the Worlds program at CheerVille. “We had the most talented group of new athletes walk in the doors, and I think our previous years of success have sparked the interest to join CheerVille” he said.

Even so, the makeup of the team this season will reflect a great deal of veteran leadership that will be sure to help Anarchy stay on track. With a whopping ten returning athletes, three athletes who moved up levels within the program, and three athletes who are brand new to CheerVille, there is no doubt that the team will rely heavily on experience for strength.

A common misconception with CheerVille teams is that they strive to live up to their Villains’ namesakes. One might think that the athletes on Anarchy are power-hungry, only value world domination, and care for little else. However, the leadership within the program ensures that every team and athlete is learning positive values of life, while also reaching to achieve athletic success.

“We stress the importance of a positive and uplifting attitude towards our own teammates, and also all of the other teams we have the pleasure to meet and support” Mastrocola noted. Specifically, about Anarchy, he said, “We want them to recognize the impact they have on all of our younger athletes in the program, and always remember that they are the ones setting the example and inspiring the rest of the program”.

The Senior XSmall Coed Level 6 division is filled to the brim with massive amounts of talent, as well as special bonds between the teams that help to make the division extremely special. Just last season, Anarchy became a “sister team” to the eventual World Champions, Gymtyme Illinois Fever. It is this bond and healthy rivalry that helped to propel both teams to the top of the Worlds standings in 2019.

What’s in store for this season? We will soon find out, as the season prepares to unfold right before our eyes. Mastrocola did make sure to give us good reason to expect big things from Anarchy this season.

Who’s to say that a hero always has to win the day? If Anarchy has anything to say about it, it will be time for the Villains to rise in 2020.
