It's A Party In The Open Male Hip Hop Division

Competing for a World Championship comes with certain pressures that every dancer and every athlete deals with. It is natural for the biggest competition of the year to seem like there are nerves everywhere and tension so real that you can almost feel it. But then, the Open Male Hip Hop division is on deck, and everything seems to change.

Sitting in the audience, you sit back, take a deep breath, and just know that you’re about to be in for a treat. The three teams competing for the gold in 2022 brought the house down and cemented the division’s status as one of the absolute fan favorites at The Dance Worlds

The first team, coming from across the pond, set the bar for the top spot and they made a strong case to be the team to beat. Angels Dance Academy Genesis screamed out “G-Unit!” before they began, and we knew that it was about to go down.

Right when the music started, they were off and running with speedy choreography that let you know exactly what kind of show they were about to put on. The tumbling and acro elements of the routine were numerous and outstanding. They even loaded the routine with moments of breakdancing that hit the music perfectly and had the crowd gasping. Even the middle section of the routine that had a disco feel still fit the Hip Hop bill perfectly, and the fellas served it up perfectly. The entire performance was a home run, and they put themselves in a great position to grab the gold in Monday’s Finals.

Coming up next was Footnotes Fusion Neighborhood. When they started out, the first impression that they gave off was that the routine was about to be a fierce one. They had their meanest faces on, they were down low and in the Hip Hop vibes, and they looked like they were about to take no prisoners. It was rugged, tough, and heavy-hitting street Hip Hop.  Then, they moved into the middle section, and their fun sides began to come out. The music flipped, the smiles came on, and the crowd engagement was legendary. They did a fantastic job of highlighting a good portion of the team members, and they left the crowd wanting more.

The final team, Adrenaline Studio Rush Crew, came out to some of the loudest cheers of the entire weekend, and you could tell they were primed to not disappoint. There was not a single moment in the entire routine where they took a breath to slow down. They were high-energy and stayed in the moment the entire time. Their tricks were strong, but the entertainment value was stronger. They looked like they were having so much fun it took everything inside of me to not get up and join in. They did a great job of showcasing their strengths and delivered one of the most memorable endings of the entire competition. If it was allowed, the crowd would have absolutely demanded an encore performance.

At first glance, a division of three teams might not seem like the most competitive opportunity. However, these three teams showed that quality will definitely rule the day over quantity at any time. Each of the teams has a different strength, and they can all make a claim for the gold in a different way.
